 South Hadley Public Library

A celebration of the South Hadley Community Garden’s 6 years of successful gardening and resident outreach, plus planning for the future.

Participants shared the wonderfully positive impact of being a SHCG gardener.

Comments were: “I really can grow something! …and it tastes so fresh! ” I have made many friends at the garden and learned so much by sharing gardening tips.”  “Gardening is an intensive meeting with the soil.”

Linda Young, representative from the Tree Committee, offered trees and a partnership to further the Permaculture plans for an edible food forest. Suggested tree choices were dwarf apple variety and nut trees.

Topics for discussion ranged from plot arrangement with wider aisles, to keyhole plots, to a proposed large tool shed, to composting.

Thank you to all participants for their wide range of positive input to make SHCG even better in 2016!
